Basic Info

The Importance of Sauna Design

Design is paramount, the best sauna builders know this—it’s about creating a space that feels natural, comfortable, and conducive to relaxation.

Ceiling Height:

Traditional saunas have higher ceilings—8 to 10 feet allowing the heat to rise and circulate. Most kit saunas have a 6 to 7-foot ceiling that restricts heat movement and creates uneven temperature zones.

Bench Levels:

A proper sauna features multiple bench levels so everyone can find their preferred heat zone. As well, the foot bench must be above the stones in order to avoid the “cold zone” at the sauna’s base.

Material Choices:

Quality wood matters. We source premium Cedar woods that can handle high temperatures and humidity while providing that distinct, calming aroma. The right wood gives life to the sauna.
